Photos can come from your glamorous trip to [insert your favorite destination here], your study abroad experience, a Peace Corps adventure, your honeymoon, or your weekly neighborhood stroll. As long as it’s relevant to an MDG, we want to see it! A photo for each MDG (for a total of 8 photos) will be selected to appear in The Forum along with the photographer’s name. The Iowa UNA Forum is published quarterly and reaches 1,000 people in print. An electronic version is also available on our web site. To submit a photo, send the photo in jpeg format along with your name, e-mail address, which MDG the photo depicts and where the photo was taken to unaiowa@unaiowa.org. Photos must be submitted by 5pm on August 6. The MDG Photo Contest is open to people of all ages and backgrounds. The Millennium Development Goals are United Nations initiatives that aim to alleviate poverty around the world by 2015 through a series of targets. The MDGs are:

  1. Eradicate Extreme Poverty and Hunger
  2. Achieve Universal Primary Education
  3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
  4. Reduce Child Mortality
  5. Improve Maternal Health
  6. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and other Diseases
  7. Ensure Environmental Sustainability
  8. Develop a Global Partnership for Development
Can't wait to see your photos!
